Late Breaking Geekery: Netflix Rage

Thanks to our regular Rob, for the news about People Being Unhappy at Netflix over their prices.

I'm still figuring Netflix' strategy, and from what I can figure:

They want to focus on streaming.
They will probably phase out DVDs in the next five years (which is expensive)
They are making some radical change now at the top of their game as opposed to when it can hurt them more.
People won't quit as much as the threaten.

So your takes?

The Big Adaptors

So, HBO, flush from well-deserved success with their adaption of 'Game of Thrones' is looking at the difficult-sounding task of adapting Neil Gaiman's 'American Gods' into a six season series.

Showtime has it's epic series, of course, as you know from hearing any reviews.

It seems the movie/premium channels are getting awful ambitious, from 'Spartacus' to 'The Walking Dead' and more. Very ambitious. Curiously ambitious.

I want to speculate that they may be onto something, and that movie channels may be uniquely positioned to become The Big Adaptors. Their future may well be adapting works to films/television.

Someone asked me why I didn't cover the end of Smallville at Fan To Pro. Smallville, after all was a decade-long television show based on comic book icon Superman, and probably sounds like something worth covering. That was a great question, and frankly, I felt it deserved it's own post.
