Smart Watches? No.

So as reported it seemed that everyone and their competitor is trying to make a Smart Watch. Microsoft has one apparently made of “Transparent Aluminum“, welcome all sorts of Trek jokes. Apple is aiming for something in 2014 according to the news..

Pebble’s kickstarter did well but I’m thinking it’s kind of the Ouya of watches – an interesting experiment.

But my take?

Not going to work.  No big new market.  No iPhone like fad.  Nothing to warrant everyone out there making a Smart Watch.

Oh sure, some will sell. Some will succeed. But do I think this is the next big thing? The next iPhone? The next tablet?

No.

Culture Smash: Canadian Performer Brings Japanese Storytelling Art to North America

In what sounds like a plot to a great unexpected hit anime, Greg Robic of Toronto studied the Rakugo, a kind of humorous storytelling art that mixes original and traditional work.  Now he’s on tour.  His stage name is Katsura Sunshine, which really has “Manga title” all over it.

Now this is following your passion, learning your trade, and doing something with it.

He’s on tour.  I’m hoping for a video.

An Interview With Noah Bradley On Why You Don’t Want To Go To Art School

Noah Bradley is a professional artist who works in gaming and other mediums – and he’s got a bone to pick with “traditional” art school educations that he wrote up at https://medium.com/i-m-h-o/138c5efd45e9.  He points out that a lot of art school careers put you in debt, with less earning potential than many other careers, and you can do it a lot easier.  We’ve seen people call out issues with law school, and medical school – Noah is calling it out about art schools.
