There’s a Junior Designer need at Cards Against Humanity.

Goodreads in Amazon’s hands does not have people happy.  I can’t say I’m surprised.

DC Comics is moving to Burbank.  Part of the further Hollywoodization of comics I’d say.  Also maybe to run away from people annoyed at the new 52.  Might be some job opportunities for you!

Facebook buying Blackberry?  Not sure myself, but they’ve been flailing and Blackberry is . . . well Blackberry.  Could this also bring a Facebook presence into Canada?

Sky is taking on Netflix.  A bit of gutsy move.  But I want to watch this in case . .

I also want to watch Al-Jazerra America’s expansion.  Because American news isn’t so hot internationally, I think they (and others) see a vulnerability.

Remember when I was cynical about smartwatches?  About 1/3 of the Samsung ones are being returned.  So I remain cynical.

Steve’s Update 10/28/201

Hello all, hope you’re doing well!

The next book is now more or less being edited.  I need to coordinate a few things, but I’m getting feedback and hope to have a “deep edit job” started soon.  I also saw the mockup for the cover, and the artist has done a brilliant job – the cover will be very fun, just let me leave it at that.  I’ll try to get more out soon – as I said, there’s a reason for the surprise.

Seventh Sanctum’s beta testing seems to be done.  Except for one flaw in a display that was easily corrected (forgot a “</div>” tag, seriously) , I can’t really find any problems so I just need to schedule the launch.  For those of you asking, yes, the “Random” option will be in the final version –  it was left out of the test as it’s got some specific setups that are just easy to put on the main site.  After this I’ll probably take a break – but I do want to get some community built.

My next book is likely to be on geek community building, charities, and culture.  Still fleshing the idea out – but I am going to be interviewing some people in those areas, so send me your suggestions.  I figure a larger culture exploration will be welcome and I could use a bit of a change of pace – though I also have some smaller career works brewing.

Got my usual convention speaking coming up – be sure to check the schedule.  Some of my usual schedule per year may change as well – I’m lookign to try a few new conventions and travel a bit more.

MuseHack is going well and I’ve think I’ve got a good rythm going.  Beyond my “Geek As Citizen” Column and my interviews I plan to do more focused career stuff, and more “Make It So” since those are plain fun.  I’m especially enjoying the interviews and plan to keep those going.  As always, I do want to add more people – though with NaNoWriMo coming up it seems everyone is busy.

That’s it for now!
