Steve’s Update 6/1/2016

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com, www.SeventhSanctum.com, and Steve’s Tumblr)

OK got plenty of updates, so what’s been up?

Sailor Moon Book:

  • The Sailor Moon Book is back from the editor – and I plan to tackle it this weekend (fair warning, this might get interrupted). What’ll happen is I’ll go through the edits, then hand off to Bonnie with notes, then a final polish. The book seems pretty solid as is, so I’m quite positive on it.
  • We also are getting the sample cover for the book together, so I hope to do a print test run very early.

Way With Worlds:

  • The sample print copy of Book One worked pretty well – though there were some edits. I’ve got a second copy on the way now and if that works out . . . it’ll be good. So dropping in July looks quite likely!
  • I did note the draft copies that I get are kinda lower quality than final prints.  That has made cover formatting a tad harder.
  • I’m hoping to do some blog promotions on the book – and to share my insights!
  • Book Two is going to definitely be moved to November. The Sailor Moon book drops in September and the followup could be pretty busy. On top of that my editor is swamped so I’m giving her some breathing room.
  • Yes, the followup plans are still in place. Stay tuned – though you may not see them until December 2016 or January 2017.

Skills Transfer Book:

  • I’ve got a little minibook based on my previous column on skill portability. I’m rewriting and expanding the ideas to release a useful 99 cent guide.

Other Works:

  • I realized I sort of got to the end of my Job Skills For The Future posts and am evaluating my next writing goals. Maybe you have ideas . . .

Generators:

  • Yep the theme is still food for 2016, though right now I’m juggling at least 3 generator possibilities. Stay tuned.

Whew, that’s a lot.  How are you doing?

And where’s the Sailor Moon Book?

. . at the editor. Sorry, no much of an update there.  It’s a waiting game now.

I’m hoping to get it back this month- if we get it in time, Bonnie and I can edit it together as we’ll be visiting each other.

We can hopefully do editing all in one go, which will easily beThe book itself is not large – about 160+ pages when formatted for print – so we can probably manage a first run edit in a reasonable time.

At that point we’ll likely do a handoff between us, each take one more shot at editing, then I’ll format it for Kindle and Print. Print pre-copies are also great to look for problems.

Still on track for September, so stay tuned!

Sailor Moon Book Update 4/27/2016

Whew, haven’t had one of these in awhile. So where’s the book?

AT THE EDITOR.  Yes, I am so glad!

The latest copy, fully set up as a book, is also off to the pre-readers. Ok not perfect (it lacks the physical print format) but close.

This is a big milestone for us as the book is that much closer to being real. We get it back from the editor sometime in June, and then after an editing binge, it’s done. Finished. Ready to print.

I’m pretty proud of it actually. The final run on it, the formatting, getting the chapter titles right, the final edit, really brought it together. It finally feels like a book, and one with a unified theme and feel.

It just needs that thorough edit to make it completely ready to go.

Of course the print formatting and the like can be a bit of a pill. I’ve got it mostly done as a system, but the preprint work is the real pain in the keister – because covers can be a nightmare and print reveals all sorts of problems. But at least by then its just a matter of time.

We’re already planning to book at least one podcast near the time, and plan to reach out to more, probably pacing ourselves before and after it reelases.

If you want to review it, let us know!
