Steve’s Update 8/6/2019

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

As you may guess, I’m keeping these updates! I just may not post them as widely to my four (really) different platforms.

Warning, it has been busy lately, and there’s a lot going on. August is gonna be complicated.

So what have I done since last time?

  • Way With Worlds: I’m back to doing the News book – which is shaping up really well. Still looking at a September publishing date.
  • Chance’s Muse: That’s the name of the Seventh Sanctum book – I’m integrating reader feedback. It’s looking mostly good, and I plan to get it to my editor for September.
  • A School Of Many Futures: The sequel to “A Bridge To The Quiet Planet” is now being plotted – in fact I have most of the basic outline down and am plotting the character arcs!

What’s next?

  • Way With Worlds: Pretty much write it, but next time you see this post, I should be done or just about done.
  • Chance’s Muse: Finish my edits, then start a full grammar edit. That probably won’t be done by the next update.
  • A School Of Many Futures: Finish up the character arcs plotting – and start plotting the book in detail!
  • Seventh Sanctum: I plan to get back to the Python coding, and possibly – possibly – start another generator!

Steve’s Update 4/29/2019

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Here’s our latest sprint roundup! Definitely prefering these two week sprints.

So what have I done since last time?

  • Must Read: If you’re familiar with Agile and any of my work. Check out this article on the infamous Five Whys, and why it’s actually not that good a technique. Heck, if you have to ever review work or like to ask what happened, read this.
  • In General: Well caught a cold, then re-hurt my back. But things aren’t quite as bad as it sounds. Though man, I have got to do more stretching exercises.
  • Way With Worlds: The Fashion Book continues. I’m upping the pace slightly, because I don’t always write every day. Still expecting 5-6 a year depending. This one is going great, and I hope to have it out start of June.
  • Seventh Sanctum Book: I am grinding through the examples section which is, ironically, the least fun part of it. It’s a good section, but having to tie it all together is really a lot of effort.
  • Seventh Sanctum: I did a lot more tech review for the future rewrite and had a real breakthrough with the Python. Feeling far more confident. Now I just have to finish that romance title generator (I need to budget time better).

What’s next?

  • Way With Worlds: As you guessed, keep writing!
  • Seventh Sanctum Book: The Example section should be done soon (hopefully by next Sprint). Then I get on to a few more sections on construction.
  • Seventh Sanctum: Keep u the Python practice and . . . hOK maybe really finish that generator, darn it . .

Steve’s Update 4/16/2019

(This column is posted at www.StevenSavage.com and Steve’s Tumblr.  Find out more at my newsletter.)

Here’s our latest sprint roundup! But first . . .

Seventh Sanctum got mentioned and used at Drawfee!

So what have I done since last time?

  • In General: I had a tough week – hurt my back. I’ve recovered, but ouch.
  • Way With Worlds: Chugging along on the Fashion book. Figuring it’ll be out very late May or early June. It’s gone deeper than I expected, which is good – amazing how much clothes are part of a society.
  • Seventh Sanctum Book: The core philosophy section is done (well in draft), and I’m on to an examples section. That one is proving fun to write as it explores the concepts.
  • Seventh Sanctum: Didn’t get to the new generator yet, and I had delays in my tech review.
  • Next Novel: The next novel is tentatively called “A School Of Many Futures” and I had a real breakthrough on plotting. I won’t really start it until the fall, but it’s looking promising.

What’s next?

  • Way With Worlds: Keep writing the Fashion book. Really, I can keep repeating this as I write these constantly.
  • Seventh Sanctum Book: I should finish the example section, and hopefully move on to the practical advice section.
  • Seventh Sanctum: Try to get back to the new generator and my study of Python.
